Dementia-friendly program at the Technical Museum – Dates 2026

The Vienna Technical Museum will again offer free, dementia-friendly guided tours in 2026. This offer is aimed at people with dementia and one accompanying person.

Museum objects evoke memories and foster lively exchanges about special experiences and familiar activities. The interactive tours for people with dementia and their companions engage various senses and invite shared conversations about the objects and their life stories.

The guided tour, including museum admission, is free.

The next dates are:

  • 30.5. 10:30-11:45 Music is in the air
  • September 26, 10:30-11:45 Living then and now
  • November 16th, 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM: Highlight Tour

Music is in the air
We invite you to listen to the music together, sing along to a tune or two, or even try a dance. Fairground organs and historical musical automata will be brought to life as if by magic. The music not only sets the walls of the Vienna Technical Museum vibrating, but can also deeply move us and awaken memories.

Living then and now
Our everyday lives at home are full of technological inventions: irons, washing machines, and electric lights are indispensable. But they are also constantly evolving – household appliances look different today than they did 50 years ago. We embark on a journey through time, bringing the stories of objects and people to life.

Highlight tour
Technology accompanies us every day – at home and on the go. This tour presents the most famous, valuable, and fascinating inventions. But sometimes it's the most ordinary exhibits that evoke special memories and spark conversation. The objects serve as a starting point for lively discussions about driving one's first car, favorite TV shows, or familiar household and workplace activities.

Guided tours can be booked from two months to five days before the tour date. For bookings or further information, please contact us at +43 1 899 98-3001 or. wissensvermittlung@tmw.at.
