For the first time anywhere in the world, the Museums Guide inklusiv offers an overview of everything domestic museums nationwide have to offer in terms of accessibility and inclusion.
Making art and culture accessible and tangible for everyone is a key objective for museums on the path to an inclusive society.
The majority of Austrian museums are not only barrier-free, but also offer a wide range of inclusive ways of presenting information and communicating art. However, these offers are often not widely known, as a comprehensive overview of what Austria's museums do and offer in this area has been missing.
The Museums Guide inklusiv closes this gap. Well structured and barrier-free, it offers a comprehensive overview. The information covers barrier-free entrance, reduced admission, barrier-free reception, availability of barrier-free toilets, tactile orientation aids, wheelchair or walker rental options, inductive hearing systems, permissibillity of assistance dogs, and much more. Special offers, such as guided tours and workshops, are also differentiated according to suitability for people with visual impairments, people with hearing impairments or people with dementia. Offers in easy or simple language, audio guides, multimedia guides or listening stations supplement the information.
The Museums Guide was made possible through a cooperation with ICOM Austria and the Essl Foundation.
