Old art retold

The Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna has its own app that allows visitors to take a look beneath the surface of works of art and behind the scenes of the museum. You can learn surprising things about topics that fascinate us today as much as they did people in the past. You can choose from tours through the collections to learn about changing ideals of beauty, magical powers or everyday life in earlier centuries. You can also get active yourself, for example by melting the snow on Bruegel's winter landscape, composing your own still life or sending a floral greeting to your loved ones.

The low-threshold access is inclusive and allows young and old alike to have new experiences. In addition, the tours are available in German, English, Turkish and B/K/S (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian).

The Tour Old news?! There are exhibits on the current climate crisis for adults and children – so young and old can explore the museum together and exchange ideas about what they have learned.

The latest tour, Different together! – With Blob through the museum, introduces children aged 8 and over to the colorful world of art and shows what diversity can mean. Along the way, they can learn new languages, pass laws or design their own exhibition with works of art from all over the world. They are encouraged to think about the topic of diversity in a playful way.
