Call for Papers: International Museum Conference on the Inclusive Museum

The 19th edition of the International Museum Conference on the Inclusive Museum will take place in September 2026 at the Chau Chak Wing Museum of the University of Sydney in Sydney, Australia. This year's theme is "The Future of Museum Narratives." The call for papers is currently open, and we are seeking contributions that explore the topic from the perspective of visitors, the collection, or education.

Last year’s edition took place in Vienna, at the MuseumsQuartier, where, among other things, our inclusive MuseumsGuide was presented.

The conference originates from the Inclusive Museum Research Network, founded in 2008, which explores how museums can become more inclusive in order to continue to fulfill their formative role in society in the future. With the conference, the research network aims to develop action strategies across disciplinary, geographical, and cultural boundaries, guided by the annually changing themes.

The conference is aimed at researchers, curators, museum and administrative staff, cultural policymakers, and students alike. Presentations can be given in person or Online OnlyFurther information on the topics, the call for papers, and registration is available on the website. https://onmuseums.com/2026-conference/call-for-papers
