Description

The Franzensburg is considered the crowning glory of the garden design of the so-called "Knights' District" in the Laxenburg Palace Park. It is a testament to the idea of romantic historicism and is not without reason considered the "little treasure house of Austria". Built by Emperor Franz II/I and opened in 1801, the Franzensburg combines historically valuable components to create a neo-Gothic work of art. Inside the Franzensburg, more than twenty exhibition rooms were created, decorated with the most valuable inventory from all eras.
