NEW VISIONS

Interactive tour & workshop for blind and sighted people

November 28, 2025, 3 PM

Together with the artist Sarah Iris Mang, the education team is designing new workshops in which participants can explore various artistic techniques.

A new format is the workshop series for blind and sighted people. In NEW VISIONS, blind and sighted people meet in a space of language, art—and imagination. Together with artist Sarah Iris Mang, interactive works of art are explored on a multisensory journey of discovery—poetic, playful, and surprising. Through instructions, tactile stimuli, and personal associations, new visions and forms of expression emerge, opening up new ways of seeing, feeling, and understanding. A space for exchange, new perspectives, and collaborative creation.

Admission is free for our guests and their companions with a disability card.

The workshop ticket costs: € 6.- per person

COMMUNICATION IN SIMPLE LANGUAGE

As part of its current exhibitions, the Künstlerhaus offers tours and workshops in simple language. These programs are aimed at groups involved in German as a foreign language (GFL)/German as a second language (GZ), literacy, and basic education.

Language moves us – and creates connections. It is more than just a means of communication: Language shapes our thoughts, influences our view of the world, and opens up new ways of living together. Using simple language, vivid materials, and interactive methods, we explore works of art together, their content – and the language with which we encounter them. A space is created in which art and language interact playfully, in which learning, sharing, and experimentation are encouraged – and in which everyone is welcome.

Interactive exhibition tour in simple language:

60 minutes: € 3 per person

Interactive tour + workshop in simple language:

120 minutes, € 5 per person

Number of participants: Min. 5 – Max. 15 people

ART EDUCATION FOR PEOPLE WITH DEMENTIA AND THEIR CARERS

A joint program was developed with Volkshilfe Wien to provide accessible encounters with contemporary art. The workshops are funded by Volkshilfe's Dementia Support Fund and are free for participants.

Since September 2022, four different focuses have been offered, each offering new access options depending on the exhibition:

Open studio – Here you can try out different techniques and materials. Painting, stamping, or printing – anything is possible!

Sound and body – The focus is on the experience of sounds and the movements of one’s own body in relation to the works shown.

Paper and paint – By experiencing different qualities of paper and paint, you get closer to the work of art.

fabric and cord – Haptic experiences are made with different textiles, which create a connection to one’s own experiences.
