The mission of the association, founded in 2019, is to ensure that museum staff can achieve even more together through exchange, discussion, and sharing of experiences. <strong>ARGE Inclusive Museum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What began as a first meeting during the 2019 Museum Day in Salzburg with the support of the Austrian Museums Association has now grown into an Austria-wide network. Visitors to the website can not only find information about relevant resources and event dates, but also sign up for the newsletter, which features regularly organized online meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doris Rothauer attended the last meeting in mid-June, which addressed the question: What can museums do \u2013 or what is already being done \u2013 to develop sensory needs and neurodiversity-sensitive offerings?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a summary of the insights and best practices that are also <a href=\"https:\/\/inklusivesmuseum.com\/blog\/\">Blog post from the ARGE website <\/a>can be read:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sensory maps<\/strong>, such as those used in the Military History Museum (HGM), provide orientation to stimuli such as light and noise:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hgm.at\/fileadmin\/hgm\/2024\/HGM\/pdf\/SensoryMap_HGM.pdf\"> Sensory Map HGM (PDF)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sensory bags<\/strong> with aids for visitors with sensory needs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Slow-paced tours<\/strong> or special \u201cRelaxed Openings\u201d, based on formats such as the <em>Relaxed Performances<\/em> in the Vienna Ronacher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Easy and simple language<\/strong> in mediation but also in online information and in exhibitions\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Awareness training<\/strong> for employees, especially in visitor services, but also across departments, in order to embed practices well institutionally<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Retreats<\/strong> in the museum, like the <em>Silence Room<\/em> in the Nitsch Museum in Mistelbach or in the Vorarlberg Museum in Bregenz.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The stress on employees who are confronted with acoustic stimuli on a daily basis was also discussed \u2013 an aspect that is often overlooked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The topic of digital accessibility was also addressed, which the ARGE will devote intensively to at its next annual meeting: on November 12, 2025, at the Salzburg Museum.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information and to subscribe to the newsletter, go <a href=\"https:\/\/inklusivesmuseum.com\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mit der Zielsetzung, inklusiv zu sein, wird in heimischen Museen viel Erfahrung und Expertise gesammelt und umgesetzt, um Barrieren abzubauen und Kunst &amp; Kultur allem Menschen zug\u00e4nglich zu machen.
