With BOOM TSCHAK: 20 Years of Doris Uhlich, Tanzquartier Wien dedicates a major solo exhibition to the local hero and internationally acclaimed choreographer from November 5th to December 5th, 2026, exploring radical body art, dance, sound, and excess. Several programs are again available for people with visual impairments, as well as in sign language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program Come Back Again<\/em> (2025) is a performance about the courage to challenge one's own physical biography and to forge unconventional paths even in old age. Susanne Kirnbauer had to end her career as an active ballet dancer in her mid-40s. An aging body has no place on the ballet stage\u2014especially not a woman's body. Now over 80, she explores with Doris Uhlich where her energy and strength can be transformed beyond the ballet steps she can no longer perform, through dance, performance, and voice. In a state of flux between change and reorientation, two dancers from different generations meet. In doing so, they question the past, illuminate the present, and engage in a kind of futuristic archaeology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On two dates, there will be a hands-on introduction with live audio description for people with visual impairments and blind people:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early Works<\/em> gathered one evening with and <\/em>(2007), Impatiens walleriana <\/em>(2007), the film sackl du printemps<\/em> (2007) and Uhlich<\/em> (2011) Rarely exhibited works from the early years of Doris Uhlich's artistic practice. The focus is on people whose bodies and biographies become the starting point for choreographic research. Even in these early pieces, questions of age, memory, social visibility, and physical diversity emerge, themes that run through Uhlich's entire oeuvre. These themes, which continue to shape Uhlich's work to this day, are presented in various formats and media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
