Description

In the ALBERTINA MODERN – just a few minutes' walk from the main building – visitors can expect important large-scale exhibitions and individual presentations that focus on contemporary and modern art. With their extensive holdings of contemporary art, the ALBERTINA collections, with a total of 60,000 works from 1945 onwards, paintings, drawings, works on paper, sculptures, installations and photographs by 5,000 artists, are among the most important collections of their kind. The focus is on the collection of Austrian art with important holdings of Arnulf Rainer, Maria Lassnig, Franz West, VALIE EXPORT, Herbert Brandl, Martha Jungwirth, the Viennese Actionist and many others, as well as international positions with extensive blocks of works by, for example, Georg Baselitz, Anselm Kiefer, Alex Katz, Cindy Sherman and Sherrie Levine.
