Description

The State Hall of the Austrian National Library is one of the most beautiful historical library rooms in the world. As a jewel of secular baroque architecture, it was built on the orders of Emperor Charles VI and today houses 200,000 valuable historical books. The State Hall is regularly used for special exhibitions.

Physical accessibility

Entrance: Entrance via a small step, next to the left side gate at Josefsplatz there is a blue bell in case help or a ramp is needed

Inside the building: Lift, barrier-free toilet facilities in the entrance area, cloakrooms with wheelchair-accessible and marked lockers

In exhibitions: The baroque exhibition showcases in the State Hall are only partially accessible for wheelchair users during special exhibitions.
