Description

The Romans lived in the Vienna area for around 350 years, and during their heyday over 30,000 people lived here - a colorful mix of Romans, locals and immigrants from all parts of the empire. The remains of two houses can be seen in the basement of the Roman Museum. One focus of the exhibition is the buildings of Vindobona and the everyday life of the soldiers and the population.

Barrier-free accessibility

Entrance: The main entrance of the museum is step-free.

Inside the building: There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet on the ground floor. The exhibition rooms on the ground floor are only partially accessible; the rear area can be reached via eight steps. The excavations below street level and the exhibition area on the first floor are accessible via stairs. A stair climber is available for wheelchair users.
