Description

The new Weltmuseum Wien sees itself as a place that connects people and cultures in a unique way. The museum has set itself the task of dealing with the cultural diversity of humanity and, with its global collections, documenting Austria's rich historical relationships with the world.

Barrier-free accessibility

Entrance: Main entrance can be reached step-free using a platform lift

Inside the building: all exhibition rooms, lockers, lift, 2 toilets, cafe

In exhibitions: Barrier-free floor, space for wheelchair users, seating

How content is conveyed

multimedia: Museum app, media stations

Inclusive guided tours and offers

Target group-specific tours: Once a month on Tuesdays for people with disabilities, alternating tours for blind people with tactile objects or tours in sign language.

Sensory mediation aids: Every first Saturday of the month, between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., the Bright Hours lighting setting is switched on in the permanent exhibition. This lighting setting was developed especially for visually impaired people in collaboration with the Austrian Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
