When the world is upside down – the Lower Austrian State Exhibition 2026

Mental health is no longer a fringe issue. The Lower Austrian State Exhibition boldly and openly addresses current questions. How do we, as a society, deal with mental illness? How has this approach changed? And what can we learn from this for the future?

Under the title "WHEN THE WORLD TURNS UPside DOWN," the exhibition at the Mauer State Hospital explores the connection between people, their psyche, and their health. It artistically depicts the challenges of mental illness and its impact on those affected and their families. The aim is to foster understanding, dismantle prejudices, and highlight the healing power of creative expression. The exhibition raises awareness of mental health and emphasizes the importance of support and compassion within society.

Visiting the exhibition becomes an inspiring experience, prompts reflection, and fosters understanding of mental illness. A regular educational program further deepens these impressions.
