Accessible travel in Germany

In Germany, there is the label "Travel for all", the associated website lists accessible leisure and cultural activities, and you can specifically search for certified accommodations, museums and destinations that fit individual requirements.

The labeling is done in different quality levels – from "Accessibility Information" to "Accessibility Tested". This allows you to see at a glance how comprehensively a service meets the criteria.

  • Transparency: verified and reliable information
  • Specific details: e.g. door widths, steps/ramps, elevators, equipment
  • Suitable filters: Find offers specifically tailored to individual requirements and needs.
  • Planning certainty: fewer surprises on site, more anticipation
  • Contact & Help: Quickly find the right contact person for your questions

Furthermore, the offers are differentiated or filtered according to the following criteria:

  • People with walking disabilities and wheelchair users
  • People with hearing impairments and deaf people
  • People with visual impairments and blind people
  • People with cognitive impairments

Accessible tourism is one of the most important and fastest-growing market segments in Germany. For around 10 percent of the population, accessibility is essential, for 40 percent it is helpful, and for 100 percent it is convenient.

The development of the labeling system began in 2011 as a joint project of the German Seminar for Tourism (DSFT) and NatKo (Tourism for All Germany e. V.). With the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the foundation, criteria, quality standards, and nationwide implementation were established in several project phases.

„Travel for All“ is managed and operated by Bayern Tourist GmbH (BTG).
