Description
The mumok is the largest museum in central Europe for art since the modern era. It makes the international and Austrian avant-garde in its various facets accessible to all art lovers. The striking dark grey basalt block in the middle of the MuseumsQuartier Vienna houses an extraordinary collection with major works from classical modernism, pop art, Fluxus and Viennese actionism to current film and media art.
Barrier-free accessibility
Entrance:
- Barrier-free access via lift to the left of the main staircase
- Next to the revolving door there are two single-leaf, heavy doors with a passage width of 120cm each.
- The security center can be notified via the doorbell (at a height of 1 m).
- Assistance dogs can be brought along as long as they are registered on the disability card.
Inside the building:
- The mumok Shop Entrance area of the museum
- The mumok Café can be reached via the elevators in the museum area.
- All exhibition levels and the mumok cinema can be reached with three elevators (152×90 cm).
- A wheelchair and sturdy folding stools can be borrowed from the cloakroom, and there is also some seating in the rooms.
- Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available in all toilet facilities in the museum (in the ladies' toilets at the mumok Café and at the cloakroom; gender-neutral disabled toilets are located on level -2 and on level 5 at the mumok Lounge).
- Barrier-free access to the mumok Lounge is possible during events via a stair lift (use with trained staff from the security center).
- The mumok studio can be reached via a few stairs from level -2b. A wheelchair lift enables barrier-free access (use with trained staff from the security center).
