From May 19 to 24, the festival, organized by the Association for Integrative Cultural Work, took place in Linz. It showcased the diversity of our society and the cultural participation of people with disabilities for the seventh time. The festival thus provides an important impetus in the field of integration and support for people with disabilities.
This means not only ensuring barrier-free access to cultural offerings, but also actively supporting people with disabilities in their cultural identity and expression. Numerous premieres and projects developed specifically for the festival provided insight into the current state of artistic debate.
The festival's goal is to deepen and expand the impact of the contributions on inclusive local cultural work, in order to achieve ever greater professionalization of the work of artists with disabilities in the long term. Quality is the key to participation in art and culture, and thus also to equal participation in social life.
In the seventh year of the festival and the 20th year of the association, we looked back on 20 years of inclusive cultural work in Austria, and in Upper Austria in particular. What changes have occurred in these 20 years? Has the situation improved for people with disabilities in general, and particularly in terms of cultural participation? How far has the topic of inclusion entered society's consciousness?
The success confirms the commitment, the festival in numbers is impressive this year:
- 1 symposium
- 2 dialogue events
- 5 MellowYellow action days at schools
- 5 premieres of theatre and dance productions
- 6 exhibitions
- 10 workshops
- 12 city-oriented projects
- 17 venues in Linz and Gmunden
- 45 events in total
